This cave, in contrast to most of the dungeons in the end of the game, is pretty short.
Go up until you get here
and mattock the east wall. Proceed through, and then go
to the right again and you should be here.
To solve this puzzle, just mattock the
rocks and hit the switches. Continue to follow the path until you get HERE
and
mattock the north wall. Go Down the stairs in the next room, heal, and save.
The Kraken Boss appears in the middle and waves his tentacles around to fool you. Only
sometimes does he strike. The only decent way to fight him is to wait as close as you can
on either side of it until it attacks, and, after it draws back its tentacles, run by and
attack it with the Thunder Spear. (Sometimes it attacks with its other hand immediately
after; be sure to watch out for that). Have Cure ready, this boss hits hard.
After beating the boss, a path opens...you knew it was too good to be true. A dungeon this
short so late in the game? Not gonna happen. Anywho, you'll exit onto an island. Go around
the mountain and into the next cave.
In this next cave, follow the path until you get here
and go up into the next
room. In that next room, mattock the west wall. And in THIS room is a cute little puzzle.
remember the sickle? Just use that to cut the vines. Then Cast Ice on two enemies and place
them on the switches. A staircase will appear. Go downstairs and follow the path to here
cross the lava and go through that door. Go north until you get here
and from here go east. When you get to the next fork go south. In the room at the end of that
path, kill all the enemies, and you'll receive a Zeus Axe! Now go back to here
and go north. In the next room, mattock the east wall follow the path. When you get here
go north. Follow the path to here
and go south. Now, HERE
you can go south to a healing pond, or just to east to advance (KEYZZ). In the next room,
mattock the lower right rock and go downstairs. You'll now be outside in front of a few
doors.
Pick the lucky number 3! (That's the door on the right) Follow the path
until you get HERE
and go through the north door. Another common Ice Puzzle.
Just freeze the enemies and place them on the tiles, then walk downstairs. Downstairs,
heal and save. Go west and fight the boss, Iflyte.
Iflyte rolls up into a ball and bounces off the side of the screen. When it gets to the
stop, it stops for a moment and moves left and right. When not rolled up in a ball, its
weak spot is its head. The best tactic is to equip the morning star, and, when it rolls up
into a ball, dodge it and attack when it's moving opposite of you, or just not really in
your path. It's somewhat hard to hit him when he isn't in a ball, surprisingly, and it also
makes you an easy target when he starts to roll up into a ball again. So, if you want to
him it when it's in "I'm not a ball" mode, be very careful. And have CURE ready. You'll
receive a Rusty sword, which you assume is Excalibur...
You automatically exit the cave. Get on your chocobo and head back to Lorim and talk to
Cibba. He will tell you, right out of the blue (though it is relevant) that the only way
left is to reveal the Dime Tower, whatever that means. He says that it's in the desert near
Ish, and to ask Dr. Bowow about it. You head the old man, go to Ish and talk to Bowow.
Bowow will also just TELL you that you need the magic spell, Nuke, to reveal the Dime
Tower. He will also tell you that a monster called Lich holds the seal to the spell, and
that he resides in the north desert.
To get to the cave where Lich Resides, from the port at Ish, just go up three times.
You should be here.
Get onto that port and head to the northwest end of the desert.
There is absolutely nothing to this cave. Just follow the path until you're outside again
(which takes 1 second), heal and save, then advance up to fight Lich.
Lich flies around randomly and throws skulls. It sounds pretty stupid, but he still hits
really hard. A good tactic for defeating Lich (Though it sounds stupid) is to first, make
sure you have the Thunder Spear equipped. Second, stand in the Middle of the Screen. When
Lich approaches, Get in Front of him (He doesn't always pass exactly through the middle)
And swing the spear as fast as your can; If you mash the button, The dude shouldn't even
get hurt, even though Lich goes right through him. Still, make sure to have Cure ready.
If all else fails, you could really try dodging Lich and attacking, or just mixing both
tactics. After beating Lich, you'll receive the spell of Nuke, and automatically exit the
cave. Go back to Ish and talk to Dr. Bowow. He'll tell you that, somewhere in the desert,
there's a crystal you can break with Nuke to reveal the cave.
From outside Ish, go Left, up, up, and left. You should be here.
Cast Nuke on the crystal in the upper right. This should happen.
Enter the cave of ruins.
